Session:

What If High Rise Living Is Changing Us?

September 18, 2018 7:00 PM

7:30 pm

The buildings and communities that we live in shape our lifestyle, friendships, and perspectives. As more high density areas are constructed, these communities are shaping Toronto and its residents. What impact is high-rise living having on the people that inhabit CityPlace, Liberty Village and similar neighbourhoods?

Cadence Weapon explored the the social impact of high density vertical communities in his song High Rise (produced by PIQUE) and music video, directed by Lester Millado. Based on his own experience finding a home in Toronto, Cadence Weapon describes the competitive race to secure housing and a dystopian lifestyle of missed connections and mass consumption.
